Fair Warning
The idea for “Fair Warning” stemmed from my thoughts about how unpredictable and crazy life can be. I wanted a Mad Hatter type tea party and since I use water in my work… what better way than a flooded room? After I started the painting, I watched The Price of Everything and it added to my feelings about the wild nature of the Art World. So, I included the painting that recently broke records for an American Artist at Auction - Basquiat at 110 Million Dollars.
The process started with sketches, then preparations for a photoshoot. Preparing for the shoot took over a month. I set up a tea party in my pool and gathered three strangers willing to get wet on a cold winter day. After my vision came together, I painted on and off for five months.
